General description of the collection: The Clenard McLaughlin papers include enlisted typed transcripts of three interviews with Colonel McLaughlin covering his service in the Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection and the Philippine Constabulary. Two interviews, 27 October 1971 and 29 October 1971, were conducted at Carlisle Barracks; the third, 3 December 1971, at Arlington, Virginia. The interviews cover company-level unit operations and daily military routine in the Philippines. Most material covers his service with 19th Infantry Regiment 1897-1899, in Puerto Rico and with the 21st Infantry Regiment in the Philippines 1894-1917. Some reference made to his service with the Oregon National Guard 1912-1916; his duty on the Mexican Border, in WWI with the Inspector General's Department and the 8th Division.
